The Iron Present - Het ijzeren heden, Atlas 2000
Why is Albert Vijfhuizen so eager to make a new start after his trip to London with his friend the literary translator? His efforts to live lighthearted fit into the spirit of the time. Almost everyone tries to live in the present, but Albert Vijfhuizen overdoes it a bit. Should he confront himself with his past, as some urge him to do? Or is he right in ignoring all well-meant advise?
Out of his present he tells his story, deluding the reader, unconsciously providing clues about his true story, if at all it exists.
